    2024 - Wife/Husband Teams win all the Great 48 Races!

    I imagine this has happened before, but we had different couples win every race this year. With 30 boats registered for the 2024 Great 48, we felt pretty lucky by the end of the regatta. Saturday's forecast was spot on with thunderstorms, lightning, rain, and not much breeze so we didn't get any racing in.     8 Bells - Eve Chapin

    LNYC lost a long time member, Eve Chapin, last month.  As an early member of LNYC, she started Great Inland Sea Chest with Maggie Callen, was an original member of Fairmates, designed the original t-shirt of Junior/Sailing Camp (which was used for many years in various colors), and started the Cheap Chili Binge dinner in the fall.  Over the years, the Chapins sailed and were active members in Highlander, Y-Flyer, Sunfish and Laser

    2024 Discover Sailing

    Discover Sailing Discover Sailing is an opportunity for interested folks to get a solid foundation of sailing knowledge and practical, on the water experience. The event will use the books "Start Sailing Right" and "Little Red Certification Book" as our texts, and include PowerPoint and lots of practical demonstrations. We will utilize a variety of sailboat types from small centerboard boats to larger keelboat cruisers for our on the water

    2024 Her-I-Cane

    LNYC will host the 2024 Her-I-Cane for all Female Skippers.  Lady skippers this is for you - juniors included! Come participate in this fun event. Female skippers may have male or female crew.   LNYC members please consider loaning your boat for this event in an effort to increase participation.  To be considered any entry in the event, a boat shall complete all registration requirements and pay all fees.     2024 Half Marathon Registration and Volunteer Opportunities

    2024 Sail Camp Registration is Now Open

      Camp begins June 10th and runs through June 14th. There are fleets for everyone, beginner fleets in optics, Sunfish, and 420s. Adventure sailing in the Sunfish, learning to race in the Optis, OPen skiffs, and 420s. Advanced instruction in the Lasers and Vanguard 15s.     2024 Lake Norman Hospice Regatta Results

    Another fabulous Hospice Regatta weekend.  Thanks to everyone that came out to support this event.  This year, Lake Norman Yacht Club raised over $84,000 for Hospice of Lake Norman!  Congratulations to Tim Porter for winning the U20 division, Mark Kaplan won the Flying Scot division, Pete Marriott won the PHRF non-spin division and Tre and Cadence Cataldo won the Juniors (420) division.   Tim Porter was selected as the overall Hospice Champion and will represent LNYC in the National Hospice Alliance Regatta.  Also, special
